The Base, XLT, ST-Line, Timberline, and Limited models have a turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine with up to 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. A 3.0L EcoBoost V6 powers the ST, King Ranch, and Platinum models and offers an impressive 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. The two Explorer Hybrid models provide a great hybrid 3.3L V6 option that has fuel-saving features and produces up to 318 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque while also being able to tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Performance
The 2023 Ford Explorer is equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission and has three engine options to pair with it. If you want to go off-road, the Explorer Timberline comes with 8.66 inches of ground clearance and 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. Off-road front struts and rear shocks can help when you're off-roading. The Terrain Management System comes standard with the Explorer, and you can equip it with the Intelligent 4WD system.
