Performance
Available for 2023 Escape are four powertrains. The base model is a turbocharged 1.5-liter 181 horsepower three-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, though all-wheel drive is available.
The other engine options include a more powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that outputs 250 hp. A 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain produces 192 horsepower, and a plug-in hybrid with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor to output 210 horsepower.
Fuel Economy
Whether you're from Kendall, Hollywood, FL, or further away, you'll find the Ford Escape is fuel-efficient. The EPA estimates that the 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive gets around 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Though with all-wheel drive equipped, the EPA says those numbers drop to 26/31 mpg. And opting for the larger 2.0-liter engine and you'll net an estimated 23/31 mpg.
As for the hybrid models, these were estimated to get about 40 mpg combined. The plug-in hybrid offers the same and an estimated 37 miles of electric-only driving.
Interior
The 23' Ford Escape's interior is spacious and comfortable. Textured cloth upholstery is standard, though faux-leather seating is the norm in higher trims like the Platinum. The cargo area is also quite roomy as it can hold up to eight suitcases behind the third row. Though, with the seats folded down, Clarksville drivers can fit over 20 bags.
Technology
Loaded in every Ford Escape is a wealth of features. The base model offers an eight-inch infotainment system, while the Active trim level and higher models can be optioned with a larger 13.2-inch display. Both screens have Ford's latest Sync 4 infotainment interface and have wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability. Additionally, there are features available, such as a 10-speaker B&O audio system, in-dash navigation, a head-up display, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge.
Safety
Along with a list of tech and amenities, the Ford Escape also has a suite of advanced driver-aids called CoPilot360. These safety features include forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
