2024 Ford F-150 vs. 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500

Both of these pickup trucks offer customizable options and thousands of pounds worth of towing ability. But when you look a little closer, you'll find a number of important areas where our F-150 comes out ahead of the Silverado 1500.

  • Hybrid powertrain option. When drivers want the latest in efficient, hybrid performance on their truck, the Ford F-150 is the only way to go. Among its many powertrain options, the F-150 includes the Ford PowerBoost system, a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 hybrid engine that produces 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. Its smooth, capable, and efficient, and you won't get anything like it with the Chevy Silverado 1500, because the Chevy truck doesn't have a hybrid option in its lineup.
  • Performance. Not only does the Ford F-150 have a hybrid engine that the Silverado 1500 does not, but it also has a larger menu of powertrain options altogether, with a higher performance output as well. There is a range of engines available here, including V6 and V8 options, with a maximum output of 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque available, depending on which trim you choose. The Silverado 1500 has fewer engines and tops out at just 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque for its most powerful option.
  • Standard features. As you explore the lineups for both of these trucks, you'll find that higher trims come with the latest features and amenities. But when you're looking for the model with the most standard features right out of the gate, that's the Ford F-150. Every model starts with a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, compared to a 7-inch version in the Silverado 1500 and every new F-150 comes with the latest safety features, such as automatic high beam control, which is not standard on the Chevy model.
  • Towing. Let's face it. One of the biggest reasons why drivers in Florida, and across the country, like pickup trucks is because they can tow heavier weights than cars and SUVs. In the case of the Ford F-150, it can also tow more than its competition. For example, while the 2024 Ford F-150 can handle as much as 14,000 pounds for towing ability, the 2024 Silverado 1500 tops out at just 9,500 pounds. This makes the Ford truck more useful whether you have a boat, an RV, or a trailer full of heavy tools.
